Meeting Customer Needs: Red Wing Highlights Shoe Repair Capabilities
At Red Wing Shoe Company, we pride ourselves on the durability and longevity of our footwear. In response to the growing consumer demand for repair services, we are excited to highlight our repair operations. The repair shop has been operating since 1985, is now busier than ever. Offering various repair and restoration services, our repair shop crew restores up to 40+ pairs of shoes per day. Re-soling is the most common, but other services are also offered, including stitching repairs, re-heeling, applying toe protection and replacing laces, hooks, and eyelets. These enhancements allow us to better serve our customers by extending the life of their beloved Red Wings, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and quality.
Mike VanGoethem, Chief Services Officer, recently had a conversation with Allison Brown of the Red Wing Republican to shed light onto the consumers' interest toward investing in and caring for higher quality products. “We’re almost 120 years old as a company and what we’ve seen recently — actually, what we’ve seen pretty consistently over the past 40 years of maintaining our own repair shop and even prior to that — is customers with a desire or demand to repair or restore their existing boots. And I think consumers have increased their desire for that type of service because of a number of factors,” he said. “By making an investment in products that last, that's good for them financially, good for them professionally — they can do a better job if they're wearing a good product — and then they're also doing the right thing for the environment and the planet by not wasting,” he explained. “I think that's another strong reason why consumers are investing in this service.”
