We were excited to announce that approximately a quarter of our electricity in Red Wing, MN now comes from solar power after signing a 25-year agreement to buy power from two solar projects in southern Minnesota. This investment in renewable energy is through Xcel Energy's Community Solar Garden Program. The solar energy helps power our facilities in Red Wing and will prevent nearly 66,218 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from entering the environment – the equivalent to eliminating 7.4 million consumed gallons of gasoline or 3,000 garbage trucks of landfill waste.

According to Mark Urdahl, the deal is a win-win in that is supports our commitment to environmental sustainability and will also result in significant, long-term cost savings, "It is the right thing to do for our planet and future generations, and it sets a positive example for our employees, customer, and our communities. What’s more, it provides more predictability and control in our energy prices without interrupting our business operations."
